You know that you are completely consumed with what you do when you look for life lessons out of every experience in life. When I went inside the post office to grab the mail from my PO Box, I could hear the ladies talking and laughing in the back. Even though they don't open until 9am, they are usually there about 6 am or so.
I peered through my open PO Box and was visiting with them, then it hit me! I'm looking through this little peep hole trying to communicate with these people. It got the job done, but it really wasn't the most effective method of communicating. How many times have you been trying to communicate to a client, coworker, or friend using just one style or way of communication?
I recommend using multiple touch points to market to customers. Perhaps one would be via direct mail, another email, and yet a follow up phone call is a winning combination. You never know what style of communication will trip their trigger.
I work with some sales professionals who have a VERY different energy level than I do. It doesn't mean that it is better or worse than my style, just different. I encourage you to embrace and notice people's predominant communication style and work with them at that level instead of trying to teach them yours.
I don't know if a PO Box can teach you anything about communication, or if I'm rambling incessantly due to a severe lack of sleep. Either way, ALWAYS BETTER YOUR BEST!
