I am enjoying the beautiful 75 degree weather in Minneapolis, MN right now. The only thing is that once I leave my hotel room, I'm in the FROZEN TUNDRA! My travels have not only opened up my eyes to the behavior of other people, but also to the behaviors of me.
I ended up having a weather delay jumping planes out of the South, heading to more engagements in the Chicago area. As the teleprompter scrolled all of the cancelled flights, people started to react. Distress, screaming, blaming the airlines. (Yeah, they love re-routing thousands of people)
I chose to respond. A few phone calls and a couple of clicks of the mouse and I now had plans to get together with a very special friend of mine in the Minneapolis area. The delay had been a huge blessing and I couldn't have orchestrated it myself if I had tried.
Sometimes things happen that are beyond your control. My challenge to you is this...learn to take a breath, and respond instead of react.
As it stands right now, I will arrive at my meeting tonight with just a little over 8 minutes to spare. I'll keep you posted!
