We have all been on a road trip where we are listening to our favorite radio station. As we travel, we start to hear more and more static until we can barely hear our favorite music. This is a great analogy for goals as well. Are you listening to the static of the media and the news? I had lunch with a fantastic friend of mine who is a mortgage broker. She said, "I don't know which recession the media is talking about, but my business is off the charts!" In other words, if you keep your eye on your goal, you don't pay attention to the negative things that people are trying to put into your head.
Keep in mind that obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. If you are living your life without goals, negativity is all that you see. If you need help with goal setting, email my assistant at info@theshef.com and put 2008 in the subject line. We will get a complimentary e-book on goal setting out to you!
