Put Both Legs Behind Your Head and Jump!

Are You Flexible?

Have you ever seen the flexibility and agility of a yoga master? (I don’t know if they are called ‘yoga master’, but I thought it sounded better than ‘head yoga dude’) Last night I attended my first hot yoga class. I really enjoyed the session, especially after I have been on the road as much as I have lately. It is amazing how cramped and tight you can become when you are in airplanes and automobiles as often as I am. For those of you unfamiliar with hot yoga, it basically means that the room temperature is around 100 degrees while you are working out.

Needless to say, it is a great cleansing exercise. While the instructor, Cole, was guiding us through various contorted stretching positions; I felt my body loosening up. Sweat was dripping off everyone in the class, and we were having a great class. What was extremely difficult at first became much easier as the class progressed.

What does this yoga stuff have to do with your life? A lot, actually.
1. When situations present themselves as obstacles, they may be opportunities if you are flexible. Products such as Viagra and Post It Notes were actually mistakes that wound up generating billions of dollars.

2. When you focus on the outcome and not just the process of how something is accomplished, you allow people to thrive and tap their talents. This is especially true if you are working in an office where there are multiple generations. Embracing and understanding the styles and values of the people there will help you immensely.

While I’m far from being able to fold myself up like a pretzel and hop around on my index fingers, I’m totally going to make flexibility a must in my personal and business life!
