Small businesses can change direction very quickly.<\/h3>\n<p>Have you ever seen an aircraft carrier do a U-turn in a river? Didn&#8217;t think so!<\/p>\n<p>Many huge businesses have so many layers of bureaucracy that by the time they made a decision, the time frame will have passed for them to have any reasonable impact.<br \/>\nSometimes it pays to be the kayak and not the aircraft carrier.<\/p>\n<h3>2. You have your finger on the pulse of your community.<\/h3>\n<p>Most small business owners in the community their business is located in. A great example of a successful small business that thrive in the same market of \u00a0huge businesses is Ace Hardware.<\/p>\n<p>My friend, Shep Hyken wrote in a book titled, <em>Amaze Every Customer Every Time<\/em>, where he shares to the success stories of Ace Hardware. Ace is so confident in their awesome customer experiences that they<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hyken.com\/customer-experience-2\/recommending-competition-equals-good-customer-service\/\" target=\"_blank\"> recommend customers to their competition<\/a> (if it benefits the customer).<\/p>\n<h3>3.
